Each Huguenot Nursery School class has a Lead Teacher and an Assistant Teacher who work as a team. The Lead Teacher sets the class curriculum, meets with parents at parent conferences and is responsible for the class. Of our nine Lead Teachers, seven have a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education and two have a Child Development Associate credential. All of our Lead Teachers have taught for at least five years; many have more than 10 years of teaching experience. Our Assistant Teachers work very closely with the Lead Teachers. The majority of them have a Bachelor's Degree and several years experience working with young children. All of our teachers are required to complete a minimum of 15 hours a year in training related to early childhood education and health & safety.
Director and Administration
Barbara Klein, Nursery School Director
Barbara has been the Director of Huguenot Nursery School since its opening in 1993. She has a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and completed a one year course in Administration for Early Childhood Directors sponsored by New York State. Barbara has worked in the field of early childhood education for 40 years. She has also served on the Board of the Westchester Association for the Education of Young Children and other local boards that address educational and quality of life issues for children of all abilities.
June Robinson, Nursery School Administrative Assistant
June has been working at Huguenot Nursery School since 2008 as an Administrative Assistant. She previously worked at Maggotty High School in Jamaica as an Assistant Bursar for 20 years and Bank of New York in the Bank Reconciliation department for eight years. She attended C.A.S.T. in Jamaica and the College of Westchester in New York where she obtained her certificates in Business Administration and Accounting. She enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her family and friends, but especially her grandson.
Marie Masseo, Curriculum Director and Morning 4's Teacher
Marie Masseo has been an early childhood educator for 29 years. She earned a Masters Degree in Early Childhood from The College of New Rochelle. Marie has extensive training in Progressive Education with the faculty of Sarah Lawrence College. She has served an Assistant Director, Camp Director, and UPK Mentor. Now entering her 2nd year at HNS, she serves the community as Curriculum Director and Morning 4’s Teacher. Marie is a wife and mother of two boys and three puppies. She loves the beach, sea glass, shells, & chocolate. Marie enjoys spending time connecting with nature and animals whether at her beach at home or in Florida. She is an amateur baker, knitter, potter, gardener, and guitarist. Marie is grateful to be a part of the HNS Community and hopes to provide learning experiences that strengthen a community of life long learners in the classroom and outdoors.
3's Assistant Teacher
Vanessa has taught at Huguenot Nursery School for three years. Her previous experience include over five years with pre-K and school aged children. She is working towards her Bachelors and plans to continue towards her Masters in Early Childhood Education. Vanessa is a music lover, singer and proud mom to her amazing eight year old, third grade daughter. She comes from a line of passionate family teachers and continues the tradition by teaching pre-K at our school.
Laura has been a Pelham resident for 18 years and four of her children attended Huguenot Nursery School. She has a B.A. in Business from Pace University and a Masters in Education from Hofstra University. She has taught for over 12 years with six being in Early Childhood Education.
3's Teacher Assistant / Extended Day / Art Immersion Assistant Teacher
Stephanie is an Asssistant Teacher at Huguenot Nursery School. She is currently working towards her Associates Degree at Hostos Community College. Her career goal is to major in Early Childhood Education and minor in Special Education. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending quality time with her family.
2's Teacher / 4's Teacher
Joanna has been a lead teacher at Huguenot Nursery School for five years. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Sciences and a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Mercy College. She is a New York State certified early education teacher. In her spare time, she enjoys taking cycling classes and spending time with family and friends.
Ella has been a teacher at the Huguenot Nursery School for almost twenty years. She received a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from The College of New Rochelle and a Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Adelphi University. Ella loves to sing and lead art projects for the Youth Choirs at Huguenot Church. She also loves to cook, which is something she frequently does with her students. She fosters appreciation of nature in her students, often taking walks outdoors and using “gifts of nature” to create artwork. She encourages kindness in her classroom – teaching her students to say please and thank you and to invite others to play along.
3's Assistant Teacher / Spanish Immersion Assistant Teacher
JoAnn has spent 24 years in early childhood education, 19 of which have been at Huguenot Nursery School. She is currently a lead teacher for the two year old class, but has also taught the three and four year old classes. She holds the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.

Gerardina graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology with a minor in Early Childhood Educataion at Lehman College, where is currently working towards her Masters in Early Childhood Education. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time with friends and family.
Ina has lived in Pelham for 35 years. She has three daughters that all graduated from Pelham Schools. She has worked at Huguenot Nursery School for 15 years. Ina holds a degree in Business. Early in her career, she worked for Estee Lauder in Sales Promotion and Special Events. Then, she workedin the Genetics department at Albert Einstein College of Medicine helping PHD students with their thesis work. She eventually left her career to stay at home with her children, but her love for children led her to the to the preschool classroom at Huguenot Nursery School.
3's Teacher / Extended Day / Art Immersion
Maria has been an early childhood educator in Westchester County for over ten years. She has a dual Masters in Early Childhood Education and Literacy from Long Island University. Maria currently teaches 3’s as well as our multi-age Arts Immersion program. Maria loves incorporating “loose parts” into her students' play to spark their creativity and help them express their individuality. Maria enjoys working with an emergent curriculum to create learning opportunities that challenge and inspire students.
Barbara has taught two-year olds for 25 years, 19 of which have been at Huguenot Nursery School. She received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Pace University and her M.S. in Early Childhood Education from Herbert H. Lehman College. She and her husband have lived in Pelham since 1975 and have raised her three children here. She enjoys knitting, crocheting, baking and spending time with her three grandchildren.
4's Assistant Teacher
Jean is currently in her first year at Huguenot Nursery School. She previously worked in early childhood as an Assistant Teacher for 9 years, working at St. Gregory the Great Early Childhood Center for four years and at Sts. John and Paul School for another four years. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, and a Child Development Association (CDA) credential. She enjoys spending her free time with her family, traveling and training for running races.

Gillian has taught at Huguenot Nursery School for four years. She received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Hostas Community College. She received a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Lehman College and is currently working on her Masters in Early Childhood Education. She enjoys running and practicing yoga.
Paulette has 23 years of early childhood education experience as a lead teacher, spending the last 13 years at Huguenot Nursery School. For every child who comes into her class, her goal is to make them excited about coming to school every single day. Paulette previouslyworked for an international airline and has visited over 50 countries. She enjoys sharing those experiences with the students by teaching them about other cultures and languages. She is also very passionate about theater and biology, which has been incorporated into her classroom curriculum through performance arts and nature studies. Paulette has an MS in Early Childhood Education and resides in Pelham.

Laurie has worked at Huguenot Nursery School as an assistant for eight years. She has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Adelphi University and holds the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
Nearly 2's Teacher / Spanish Immersion Teacher
Our bilingual lead teacher Pamela brings to our school 11 years of experience working with children with special needs and four years working with Latino families from Westchester in bilingual educational presentations.
Erin is a NY state certified teacher and has worked at Huguenot Nursery School for three years. After graduating from Iona College with a B.S. in Psychology, she worked at New York Presbyterian Hospital, helping patients of all ages with psychological disorders, specializing in eating disorders. She then obtained a dual Masters Degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education from Manhattanville College. Erin has experience working with children with dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities and is certified in the Orton Gillingham method of teaching. She is a also private reading tutor to elementary aged students. Erin is a mother of two and enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
4's Assistant Teacher
Kelly is working towards a B.A. in Early Childhood Education at Mercy College. She previously worked at Cerebral Palsy of Westchester and Butler Nursery School. She has also served as a Director at Kidscare of Westchester for six years.
Barbara Sakai received an A.A. in Music from College of the Siskiyous and a B.A. in English from Cal State University Fullerton. She went on to get a M.A. in T.E.S.O.L. (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from N.Y.U., followed by another M.A.T in Early Childhood from Manhattanville College. She's been teaching children Engligh for approximately 25 years, but found her true passion when she started teaching preschool eight years ago! In her spare time she enjoys Musical Theater, cooking, gardening, and is a political junkie.
Linda has spent 20 years teaching at Huguenot Nursery School and currently teaches the full day 4’s. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Fordham University and her Masters in Education from the College of New Rochelle. She also taught at the graduate school of education at the College of New Rochelle for ten years.
4's Assistant Teacher
Carol has been as assistant teacher at the Huguenot Nursery School for 16 years. During this time, she has worked with the two, three, and four year olds. She has an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts with a minor in Psychology and holds the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. When in the classroom, she loves to put her creative mind to use by helping her students make unique projects. Outside of the classroom, Carol has a passion for baking and is a strong advocate for abused and endangered animals.
4's Assistant Teacher
Rosanna has taught at Huguenot Nursery School for 16 years. She graduated from the College of Mt. St Vincent with a B.A. in Business/Economics. She also holds the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Rosanna has a passion for working with children and enjoys building a foundation for her students future success in school and outside of the classroom.
2's Assistant Teacher
Maria has worked at Huguenot Nursery School for 17 years. She recently moved from Pelham after 27 years. She has two sons who attended Huguenot Nursery School and Pelham schools. She holds a B.A. from Iona College in Communications with a minor in Marketing and a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
Laura Barnet, Music Teacher
Laura is a certified Dalcroze Eurhythmics teacher that also teaches at Hoff Barthelson Music School, Hudson River Music School and her own private violin studio. She received her B.M. in Violin Performance from the University of Michigan and an M.A. in liturgical music from St. Vladimir's Seminary. She spends her spare time practicing with her two sons who study violin and cello.
